THE FIRST WORD ON CHILDREN
15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
— Jesus, Luke 18:15-17
A SAFE, WELCOMING, JOYOUS EXPERIENCE
We long for these words of Jesus to be pressed more and more deeply and thoroughly into the life of our church. We want Redeemer to be a community where children of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. It is of great importance that our children come to love Jesus and his church. As children feel safe, are welcomed and sense that being part of the community of saints is a joy and delight, they will more and more make a connection of what we teach them about Jesus and how they see Jesus' words affect our lives. We could talk a good game, but children know the difference between talk and action. After all, this is what Jesus is really talking about. That we all must come to him "as little children" believing and trusting and looking to him for all things.
