Liturgy Ministry Team

PURPOSE

The Liturgy Ministry Team (LMT) exists, because of the hope and invitation of the gospel, to prepare gospel liturgy and plan its execution in Redeemer Church’s regular and special services of worship and festival gatherings. The LMT will seek to fulfill this purpose through three avenues: prayer, vision and implementation.

PRAYER

The LMT is continually asking and praying through these questions: —> How can we communicate the gospel more deeply, clearly and meaningfully to one another through our liturgical expressions? —> How can our worship services truly become more inviting to people and pleasing to God? How can they connect with seekers and new converts as well as struggling, maturing or wandering Christians who have been in the church for years? How can our worship become both more accessible to sinners and more honoring to our Savior? —> How can we make worship of the living God more central in the lives of all of Redeemer’s people? —> How can we create a hunger for worship among Redeemer’s people? How can we make the congregation aware that Christ brings heaven down to us when he gathers us for worship? —> How can our liturgy become more historically connected to the church throughout the ages? —> How can our liturgy keep important rhythms and patterns yet be fresh to all, especially the emerging generations? In addition to praying through these questions, the LMT will beg for God’s gracious Spirit to be present and active among us in worship and for Christ’s gospel to transform our lives through word and sacrament and prayer.

VISION

The LMT is continually casting Redeemer's vision: —> The LMT will interact with the Worshipping Leadership Team, the various other Worshipping Ministry Teams and the Advisory Team to receive and to help shape Redeemer’s vision for gospel worship as the wonderful, central experience of all Christian living and the great end of all Christian witness. —> Through discussing and praying through the questions above, the LMT will seek to keep its vision for worship fresh and vibrant, that it might serve up to Christ’s people weekly gospel feasts of word and sacrament.

OVERSIGHT

The LMT has the following oversight and responsibility: —> With input from the Worshipping LT and the MAMT, the LMT will write weekly and special liturgies and plan their execution. —> The LMT will interface with the MAMT, Logistics & Ushering and Sacraments & Aesthetics Ministry Teams, and the Worshipping Leadership Team as to weekly and seasonal needs and opportunities in worship. —> Under the Team of Church Planters direction, the LMT will plan preaching and liturgy in light of the church calendar, and plan special services and festivals. —> The LMT will coordinate with the Learning and Sharing Leadership Teams, the Community Group Leadership Team, and the Adult Learning Ministry Team about strategic plans for worship-driven learning and sharing (i.e., Matthew preaching series in 08-09) which will give shape to community group curriculum).  —> The LMT will work with the Worshipping Leadership Team, the Advisory Team, and the Finance & Budget Ministry Team in setting the Liturgy MT budget for each ministry year. —> The LMT will always be looking to involve more and more people at all levels of the worship service and will regularly recruit new members to its team.
