PURPOSE

The Serving LT (SvLT) is responsible to pray for our gospel serving as a community, to cast vision for our gospel serving as a community and to oversee the implementation of that vision for gospel serving in our community.     

PRAYER 

The SvLT is constantly asking and praying through these questions: —> How can we better serve those within our body and those outside our body, especially the poor, the widow, the stranger, the orphan, the alien, the prisoner and the sick? —> Where does the renewing power of the gospel most need to penetrate Knoxville in deed as well as in word? —> Where is Christ providing opportunities for Redeemer to partner with other ministries of mercy and service in Knoxville, in our region and nation, and in the world? (Partnering with other ministries beyond the church is a key ministry strategy for Redeemer in this area.) —> How does Christ want to further shape us into a community where mercy and shalom are experienced and shown to the city?

Working under the Team of Church Planters and the Advisory Team and with the various Serving Ministry Teams, the SvLT casts vision for Redeemer’s gospel serving as a community — to the various Serving Ministry Teams and to the whole congregation. Thus this group will serve Christ together, will study gospel service and will create avenues for serving Christ that will permeate all aspects of our life together. 

The SvLT has the following oversight and responsibility: —> The SvLT gives oversight to each of the Serving Ministry Teams under its care by teaching and equipping them in Redeemer’s vision for gospel serving. This occurs in part through a representative structure. The SvLT is made up of representative leaders from the Serving Ministry Teams and has, in turn, representation on the Advisory Team. —> The SvLT will assist and hold accountable each of the Serving Ministry Teams to identify its ministry goals and strategies, to delegate ministry opportunities to a broad range of people, and to follow-up on the successes and failures of its ministry endeavors. —> The SvLT will work with the various Serving Ministry Teams to set their ministry budgets and will interface with the Team of Church Planters, the Advisory Team and the Finance & Budget Ministry Team in setting Redeemer’s budget for each ministry year.
