NEW PARKING PLAN FOR AUGUST 17 & BEYOND

Parking in Close Proximity to Redeemer Will Be Challenging
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS

Since Redeemer began worshipping at our new location in November 2005, God has provided ample parking. Parking has been relatively easy and not a challenge, but things are changing! Now we will no longer have access to the commuter lot on Laurel Avenue. Additionally, the parking deck is being demolished and will not be rebuilt. This means the new sorority housing in the Laurel Apartments will not have enough parking for all of the girls, which will make street parking even more challenging.  Here are some things to keep in mind...

The Gospel and Parking - We have and continue to believe that the gospel even comes to bear on how we park when we gather together as Christ's church. Parking is an opportunity for us to all serve one another and especially those who are new to and exploring Redeemer. While we regard parking as a blessing to everyone, we especially want it to be a "no-brainer" to those who are new and visiting Redeemer.

Regarding the Front Lot - The front parking lot will be reserved parking for visitors, handicap access and special needs. This lot will also be a primary "drop off & park" point. The front lot will also now be entered by 17th Street only and exited out onto Highland to improve flow of traffic. A parking attendant will be stationed here to help with any question or directions as needed.

Regarding the Rear Gravel Lot - To make this lot easier to use we will be asking all parkers to follow these guidelines: [1] Park as deep into the lot as possible, [2] Back into the space (this will make your departure easier and most importantly, safer when you leave, [3] Park close enough to open your door 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. If you can open your door fully, you are too far apart from the next vehicle.

Regarding the Rear Upper Lot - We currently have 25 spaces available down at the 17th Street Market & Deli. The owners of this establishment have graciously opened up their store property for our use on Sundays. They only ask that we do not park immediately in front of the Laundry Mat. There are 5 spaces in front of the Deli, about 10 on the side of the Laundry Mat and 15 behind the building. We will have an attendant assisting with this lot beginning August 17.

Parking Deck on Highland & 19th - Covenant Health has agreed to allow us free use on Sundays of their parking deck located west of Redeemer at Highland & 19th Street (between Laurel Ave and Highland Ave).  We ask folks to park in the deck on the North-East corner, which gets you closer to Redeemer.  There is a stairwell there that will drop you out on Highland about a block and a half from the church. We are currently making parking tags for free use of this deck on Sundays.

Street Parking West of Redeemer - As you enter Fort Sanders from 1-40 along 17th Street, you can look for street parking on Forrest, Highland, and Laurel in between 17th and 19th Streets.
