Through Redeemer’s CityServe initiatives, we seek to reflect the love of Jesus to our friends and neighbors in Urban and University Knoxville. We have broken our opportunities up into six categories. Keep reading to see the exciting ways God is working through our congregation.

  • On the first Sunday of every month, Redeemer collects a special offering for the poor among us and to support the ministries of CityServe. Please consider contributing to this offering by placing cash, checks, or our monthly suggested donations in the boxes in front of the communion tables.

  • Our meal ministry serves two main purposes

    1) Meals for the Congregation - As our members go through the ups and downs of life, we like to walk along beside them and show God's love by providing them meals. Whether we are celebrating new life, or mourning sickness and death, please consider signing up to know when these needs arise.

    2) Meals for Redeemer’s Freezer - Help stock Redeemer’s freezer for one off needs of the congregation.

  • Maynard Market: On the 3rd Thursday of every month, from 2:45-4:00 PM, Redeemer operates a food pantry at Maynard Elementary school for families of enrolled students. Please consider signing up if you would like to help us deliver food to our friends at Maynard.

  • -Maynard Readers - Volunteers will read with elementary-age students individually and in small groups for an hour each week. For this service opportunity, we would like to provide volunteers to serve regularly to establish trust and friendship with staff and students.

-Snacks for Maynard Teachers - Maynard teachers are required to stay late twice a week. We would like to provide snacks for them once a month. There are about 40 Maynard staff.

-Speakers for Maynard - Maynard Elementary would like for people to speak about their careers or life experiences.

-Tutoring at Thrive Papermill - Thrive Papermill has 48 elementary-age students from Pond Gap and West Hills Elementary. Volunteers will be helping students during homework time and setting up for dinner. This is an opportunity to work directly with students, so the more frequently you can serve, the better. Please consider signing up even if you can only come a handful of times.

  • Throughout the year, Redeemer takes one-day mission trips to serve and encourage our various partners throughout the city. Our current partners include:

    -Hope Central

    -The Cerebral Palsy Center

    -KARM

    -Maynard Elementary

    -Christenberry Elementary

    -Thrive Lonsdale

    -Beardsley Farms

    -Mission North America

    -Operation Backyard

  • We find that in the life of our church, various needs pop up sporadically. This could be anything from repair work in our members’ homes, driving people to doctor appointments, even disaster relief through Mission North America. If this is something that speaks to your skills, please consider adding your name to our database so we can reach out to you when these needs arise.
